13K (8-Miler) on country roads & trails; 5K Run & Walk on country roads (small portion on Millennium Trail); Kids 1K on soccer fields. Formerly known as the W8. Chip timing for all runners.
Now in its 16th year, this unique event offers a chance to get out of the city to take your feet on a tour of rolling country roads and trails -- right in the heart of gorgeous Northumberland hills. You choose the pace.
Beautiful and challenging, the 8-Miler (13K) is on paved backroads with some trails. The 5K is all on paved roads. The Kids 1K is on playing fields. All runners are timed, making this a rare chance to run in a timed event out in the country.
Introducing a 5K Walk component -- all welcome, including friendly leashed dogs. Come join us and step off the route at any time. No pressure!
The Dave Down Bridge Hospice Run/Walk honours the legacy of local hero Dave Down, who did much for so many. As a runner he competed faithfully in the 13K, while supporting the event as a sponsor as well.
The event is a fundraiser for The Bridge Hospice. Serving Northumberland County and greater region, this extraordinary 3-bed home is a warm and welcoming place where people in their final days receive compassionate care and their loved ones are supported -- all at no charge.
